The five songs on this album were recorded between the dates of September 22nd and September 27th of 2012, in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Northern Minnesota by Colby Ruport and Kurt Perry. With sufficient camping supplies, a battery powered digital 16 track, a banjo, a guitar, two vocal mics, two instrument mics and cords to match, we packed in and out of a campsite on Cross Bay Lake, 3 portages and 4 bodies of water deep. Temperatures dropped low enough to freeze our water supply over night and got just warm enough to play our instruments by day huddled over a fire. Small rations of food were had and large rations of strong coffee were a constant. Much attention was given to the beauty of the North Woods, as was to survival in such a rugged environment. The track titled “evolve” was written at our campsite under these conditions.
